Calciopoli or the ethics of corruption: Mirror of society and politics in Italy
Abstract
This research will seek to analyse the interactions between the Ethics and the Politics and Society through the Sport phenomena. Therefore, a single study case methodology will be developed. Football will be the selected Sport in order to explain the moral and ethic problems within transalpine politics, but also within the own Italian society. “Calciopoli” affair, that shocked the whole country during the spring of 2006, will be used to analyse the above mentioned interactions. Indeed, it will be researched ifthe lack of ethic and generalised corruption within every single football levels, constitute a mirror, where both, the particular political elites and the unhealthy Italian society, would be reflected.
