Abstract

This article speaks of the vulnerability of the migrant population in Mexico, whether they are in transit or settling in one particular place, highlighting the lack of public policies on the matter and the fact that the ones that do exist do not integrate a gender perspective, necessary for today"™s analysis. The so called "feminization of migration flows" is a phenomenon on the rise that has become most important in the southern border of the country. The fact that the human rights of the female migrant population are repeatedly violated, leaving them defenseless, makes them object of harassment in which their condition of irregular migrants won"™t let them file a complaint, as well as the various social and cultural factors (gender, class, race"¦), which makes them face a lack of resources to empower themselves and take action. In this article we analyze the lack of protection of the female migrants that come from Chiapas in Central America as well as the various agreements, national and international, that seek to defend their rights, finishing with a series of recommendations and proposals concerning the existence of public policies for the present case.
