The Non-Judicial Judgments on Television by the Broadcasting Authorities
Abstract
Information on criminal procedures is likely to violate fundamental rights such as honor, privacy, self-image, presumption of innocence and the right to a fair trial. These risks are increased when using television media. Television produces a great impact on the public and its features are the perfect way to carry out a parallel trial. Given the difficulties of setting a regulatory framework that limits these practices, audiovisual authorities can carry out important work by detecting, controling and reporting inappropriate behavior, developing documents including recommendations to facilitate the proper exercise of freedom of information and promoting self-regulation and co-regulation instruments to make audiovisual operators take ethical commitments.Downloads
