Is abortion morally justifiable? A reply to Lariguet
Abstract
In 2012 Guillermo Lariguet provided a moral defense of abortion in his article "¿Cómo es posible justificar moralmente el aborto?" (How can abortion be morally justified?), in which he argues that abortion is morally permissible at least when it takes place during the first three months of pregnancy. The purpose of this work is to examine the arguments and present some objections to his justification of abortion even in the first three months of pregnancy from a secular perspective. In order not to unreasonably attribute Lariguet certain opinions shared by many of those who favor abortion, at the end of this paper some questions are posed so that, based on the answers given to these questions, some possible counter-arguments can be further developed.Downloads
