Abstract

This article will contribute to the consideration of trafficking in general, and the trafficking in women in particular, as a diverse and complex phenomenon, permeated by different typologies, the characteristics of which we will present very briefly, with reference mainly to the national and European context. This approach to the cases of forced marriage in Spain shows them to be a form of trafficking which, just like the trafficking associated with prostitution, affects women because of the fact that they are defined as objects of consumption on the world level. The private, public, and domestic exploitation of women in the cases narrated is part of a transcultural and transnational phenomenon favored by the global de-localization of citizenship, which makes it possible to maintain, generally, the oppressions based on gender and their most brutal expressions, such as trafficking with women and minors.
