Prostitution of Women: Sources for Legitimacy

Abstract

This research tries to analyse the ideology that justify the role of woman prostitution in an advanced society; in a society believing in the principle that all people are equal and with a high tolerance of all sexual opinion"™s. We studied the safeguard of the patriarchal values, and the sexual conduct of male hegemonic societies throughout history, which has taken to justify the purchase and use of the woman"™s body by men. The above mentioned study was carried out in Lanzarote, through questionnaires of six men who frequent prostitutes. All this from a gender perspective, since the situation for the woman is different from the role of the man. Among the most notable findings is the one that throughout the ideology, patriarchate has used every means in its power to use women for the services of men.
