An Assessment of the Moral Justification of Abortion. Answers to Lariguet

Abstract

In order to provide a moral justification for abortion, Guillermo Lariguet wrote in 2012 an article entitled "How we can morally justify abortion." (In Spanish). In a short text published in Dilemata in May of 2014, I expressed my doubts and objections to Lariguet"™s argumentation, and, in turn, he responded and provided criticism in a text published in the same issue of the journal. In this text, I respond to his criticisms and objections, besides of showing that my initial doubts were well justified. It is concluded that, despite the expertise of Lariguet and his effort to bring coherence to his position, there are still serious problems that challenge his proposal of moral justification which were not addressed in his previous answer and question the plausibility of the position itself to justify abortion.
