Abstract

In the current context we are witnessing the growing incidence of threats from biomedical advances against major values "‹"‹of humanity. These threats are linked to the prevalence of scientific and technological factors but also structural conditions of extreme vulnerability that impact on developing countries, forcing us to rethink concepts and models approach on issues that enable the debate over the controversial aspects Bioethics and conscientious objection. Biomedical and medical research and healthcare practice, installed as long debates on the legality and necessity. However, these debates are strongly incised by the structural conditions of the societies in which they occur. In contexts marked by vulnerability, concepts populations face barriers to their uptake, and the old and the new coexist without change can be articulated on continuity. Consequently, in this paper it will seek to address the influence of contextual factors that determine discussions on topics of bioethics and conscientious objection in the context of Latin American societies, characterized by deep structural asymmetries which become vulnerable conditions. We will also consider the role of education in the recognition and dissemination of topics of bioethics and conscientious objection in the context of these structural conditions.
