Forgoing Breastfeeding: from a Self-Ethnography Narrative to a Fictional Narrative
Abstract
In this self-ethnography research, forgoing breastfeeding is being proposed as a token of my shortcoming in balancing my various roles as a woman: mother, student, associate architect, researcher, and arts professor. Subsequently, through introducing the fiction narrative as a method to explore the different paths offered by A/R/Tography, I am able to envision another college environment, whereby juggling the balance between student life and family is possible. When contrasting reality with fiction, a need arises to generate: family-friendly environments; administrative, curricular, and methodological adaptations or those pertinent to evaluation processes; and the encouragement of students, professors, and administrative and service personnel to embrace positive and engaged attitudes.Downloads
