Undoing Sex. Beyond Male-Female Binarism
Abstract
This paper aims to elucidate a number of arguments that set forth the fact that both sex and gender are built and rest on a cultural understanding. Using the case of intersexuality as a guiding thread, I advocate for a philosophical feminism that combines the theory of sexual continuum with gender abolishment. Once we realize that both sex and gender are constructed, we must bring back the understanding of gender as an analytical and inherently critical category. Only thereby will we move towards a society that works beyond male-female binarism.Downloads
