Some Aspects on Informed Consent in Surrogacy

Abstract

This paper will not analyze the specifically ethical and legal problems regarding surrogate maternity, but rather describe the concrete ways in which this practice is realized today. The have attained the features of a lucrative traffic whose objects are human beings . On the one hand, the women who "rent" their uterus, on the other hand the babies that are expected to be born and are considered as objects of a buying-and-selling trade and which even a quality control is often required. The women who submit themselves to this practice belong, in the greatest majority, to poor social groups or countries: they are pushed by a state of need and hired by agencies expert in marketing.
