Abstract

Surrogacy is a controversial matter in bioethics and has become one of the issues to be addressed in the Spanish political agenda. Especially since the appearance of two documents that analyze the possible legalization of surrogacy: “Proposal of general bases for the regulation in Spain of surrogate pregnancy” (a file of the Group of Ethics and Good Clinical Practice of the Spanish Fertility Association) and the “Report on the ethical and legal aspects of surrogate motherhood” (done by the Spanish Bioethics Committee).
The aim of this article is to analyze the ethical aspects surrounding surrogate pregnancy. In order to do it, in addition to the aforementioned documents, it has been revised articles published between 2012 and 2017 to rescue the main points in favor and against this practice.
