Journalism, Realism and Open Society
Abstract
This paper proposes a theory of journalistic information from the connection between open society, realism and democracy in the popperian sense. Journalism finds its meaning in freedom. And the promotion of freedom brings out a society to be open. The enemies that open society has today are no longer the same as those that Popper detected yesterday, but they are still enemies for the same reason: to prevent individual and social development. Does journalism contribute to the construction of an open society or does it close the possibility of freedom?
