The doctor-patient relationship (DPR) is an interpersonal relationship that is created in the interaction between the health professional and the patient. In the space of the DPR, decisions related to diagnosis and treatment are made, and patients' intimacy is exposed. The pressures that are exerted on the DPR are intended to direct that decision-making to benefit the interests of third parties. This book analyses these pressures, what their effects are, and the areas that remain to be addressed with respect to the conflicts of interest that exist in healthcare relationships.
