Secular arguments in favor of the protection of human life
Abstract
The aim of this paper is to show that abortion is morally objectionable on some purely secular basis, this is shown through two strategies: 1) showing that the major theses commonly used in the defense of abortion are questionable and 2) giving some positive secular arguments that reasonably support the rejection of abortion. Finally it is concluded that, contrary to common opinion, the central issue in the abortion debate is not whether the human being in the womb is a person or not, but whether its value is higher or not than the value that is lost if it is not aborted.Downloads
