The normalcy and its free territories
Abstract
Text explores the normative implications of the concept of normalcy from etimology, early XVIII century´s anatomicaltreatises and staticians point of view. The discourse that defines disability as a personal tragedy is discussed in relation with Adrianne Rich´s concept of compulsory heterosexuality, and purports the existence of a “disability dispositive” .The consequences of this normative oppression for people with disabilities are a form of failed citizenship.
